Kimberly and Spencer’s love story is one for the ages. It’s a cinematic, across the universe type of love that emanates from their very beings. Their love is magnetic, contagious and so pure that it is almost tangible.
Kim and Spencer met in middle school where they became friends. Unfortunately, Kim’s family moved across the country awhile later. While this may deter many people, Kim and Spencer stayed friends. They drove to see each other on holidays and weekends. To them, their friendship was important and they’d do whatever it took to nurture it.
Eventually their friendship turned into something more. They fell in love. And all the time they had spend creating this relationship with no borders proved to be of the best decisions of their lives.
So on July 29, 2017, Kimbery and Spencer told the world what they already had known in their hearts for so long… They were going to be together forever, no matter the distance, time or anything else. Their love would conquer all.
Lucky for us, Xander and I were there to capture this beautiful day. We started the day with Spencer and he looked absolutely dapper in his navy suit.
He ensured his friends were well prepared for the day with gifts of bowties, Star Wars socks, Jack Daniel’s whiskey and Booker’s small batch bourbon.
The group had a few issues getting their bow ties on, but luckily had a pro on the teams (and the help if the internet).
With such a great team of friends and family on his side, Spencer was buzzing with excitement.
Meanwhile, Kim and her girls were also getting ready in the suite at the Boo Cat Club. They had plenty of champagne, orange juice and water to get the party started.
Kim and Spencer chose not to see each other before the ceremony, so she stayed tucked away, but snuck a few peeks of her handsome groom.
Kim also had the support of an amazing group a girls, who were excellent problem solvers and cheerleaders.
With her dress on, Kim invited her father to see her for the first time and he couldn’t keep a smile off his face. She looked completely stunning.
The ceremony took place in the catacombs, giving it a very intimate and romantic vibe. When Kim walked down the aisle, Spencer lit up the whole room.
In a ritual adapted from a Yoruba tradition, Kim and Spencer tasted four flavors that represented different emotions within a relationship. The four flavors typically used are sour (lemon), bitter (vinegar), hot (cayenne pepper) and sweet (honey). Honey was last to be tasted, creating an even sweeter first kiss as newlyweds.
These two couldn’t keep their eyes or hands off each other! Which made for some seriously beautiful couple portraits.
As the reception began, the entire space was filled with amazing details chosen by the couple. From the beautiful candle centerpieces to the truffle wedding favors, every detail was chosen with thought and love.
Spencer serves in the military, so it was very important to them to have a Missing Man Table, also known as the Fallen Comrade Table. This table sits in memory of fallen, missing, or imprisoned military service-members. Learn more about this table here.
Spencer and Kim’s first dance was choreographed and they did amazing, earning a standing ovation from the crowd.
This was such a great group. They spent the whole date dancing with almost everyone on the dance floor.
They ended the night with a sparkler sendoff and a getaway in a vintage Rolls Royce. Talk about making an exit!!
We had such an amazing time photographing Kim and Spencer’s wedding day. We wish them so so much happiness and love. Congratulations, you two!!
