Many years ago (more than I’d like to think about) Rocky and I went to high school together. We went to a small high school in St. Louis, one you may not be familiar with, so almost everyone knew each other. Rocky and I weren’t close friends, but we’d share acknowledging smiles, both of us happy to see the other. I think our paths crossed a few times and it was always a nice experience. But I would have never have guessed that someday down the road I’d be photographing her wedding!
But enough about Rocky and me! Let’s get on to the good stuff. This post is about Rocky and Michael.
Rocky and Michael met in school. Not high school, but in college in Edwardsville, Illinois. Except this time, Michael was Rocky’s boss. They were nervous to talk to each other but there were always tiny moments between them. Moments made up of looks and smiles and words unsaid. Those moments were something electric.
Once Rocky was no longer Michael’s employee, they began dating. Then they fell in love. Hundreds of little moments have happened since then, all leading up to their beautiful wedding day.
Rocky and Michael, your love is truly electric. Your passion for life, your family, your friends and each other is inspiring. You radiate joy, compassion and fun in a way that’s so heartwarming and it evident by the crowd gathered at your sides that you are extremely well loved.
The day started off with getting ready and gorgeous details. Beautiful moments with Rocky and her mom and little sprinklings of hops everywhere. Can you believe that all of that jewelry was designed and crafted by Rocky?? Check out her other work here. Your jaw will drop. Just like Michael’s did when we saw Rocky in their first look on their spiral staircase. <3
Rocky and Michael have some of the most wonderful friends around. It was non-stop laughing and joking with this group. Alec and I had a blast with these hilarious people. After some photos with the wedding party, we headed to the Watershed Nature Center. This was the view from their ceremony… pretty breathtaking.
After so many happy tears, hugs and photos with families, we spent some time just the four of us at the nature center, taking some gorgeous portraits. Although, I have to say that I don’t think Rocky and Michael even noticed we were there some of the time.
After about a half hour of Rocky and Michael just looking like straight-up models, we had to stop for a beer at Recess! Rocky was definitely ready for a drink. 🙂 And we may have made some movie magic under the marquee at The Wildey!
Then it was time to make it official and sign the paperwork! Rocky and Michael made a grand entrance into a reception full of love, laughter and an adorable dog!
The maid of honor and best man made some very emotional speeches, leaving everyone feeling pretty teary-eyed. Rocky and Michael are each other’s missing pieces.
Alec and I want to thank Rocky and Michael from the bottom of our hearts for making us feel so welcome on your special day. You are an amazing couple and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for you.
